The Bavarian Forest is a leader in cross-country skiing. With more than 2,000 kilometers of trails, it is the largest cross-country skiing region in Germany. All wishes are fulfilled by the variation of circular trails, (supra-) regional trails and long-distance trails. The "Hirschenstein-Grandsberg cross-country skiing center" is located in the vacation region of St. Englmar and the Arberland. The route covers a total of 53 km on four different trails and you can start at four different points. You can also enjoy wonderful views over the Bavarian Forest.

You can reach the summit by cable car or chairlift and enjoy the downhill runs on pistes of varying difficulty. This ski area is around 50 km from the Reibener-Hof.

There are special winter hikes where the paths are usually cleared and you can often make the descent easier with a sledge, and the mountains in the Bavarian Forest can also be hiked on snowshoes. Winter Tour 1: Winter hiking tour on the Lusen
You start at the Igelbus bus stop at the Waldhäuser church in Neuschönau and follow the path to the Waldhäuser lookout, where you can enjoy views as far as the Alps. You reach a unique primeval forest that leads up to the Lusen. There you can admire the sea of boulders and the view over the national park as far as the Lusen.

A fairly easy hike on well-maintained paths and side roads, along large lime trees and a fallow deer enclosure. You also have a beautiful view of the Hoher Bogen and the Großer Arber.
